the first time i heard this song, i could only respond with a single word that i shall not repeat here.  

i like thinking of austin as a friend of mine, but i think even in this song, it’s easy to hear that he desires to be or simply is a friend to all.  that niceness can be really tough on a person.  and he captures it beautifully in these lyrics.  striking, really, for a guy who once advised me in my lyric writing to not put too much thought into every word on the page.  the guy’s good, what can i say.  

fork and spoon capture it beautifully with this one-mic recording.  we hope to be a part of their causal friday series soon.  in the meantime, listen to some of their other recordings.  enjoy.
